This artwork was stored in an archival environment since acquisition. In 2024, the frederic gallery framed this piece in-house in high quality, archival materials and crafted wood frame.

The included card reads: 

Jan de Ruth was born in Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia, in 1922, and studied art both in Prague and in Oxford before coming to the United States. He has had 25 one-man gallery exhbitions, 15 museum one-man exhibitions, and participated in numerous juried exhibitions both in America and abroad. He has been part of the invitational exhibitions at the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Butler Institute of American Art, the M.K. McNay Museum and many others. Among his awards are a Butler Intitute of American Art Purchase Prize, an Audubon Artists Purchase Prize and prizes from the Ogunquit Art Center, the American Artists Professional League, and the Knickerbocker Artists. ‘Femme en Chemise’ is the first work by this important artist exclusively for patrons of Associated American Artists.
